What!?! No More Consignment Sales?

Just two of HUNDREDS of articles on the topic: Are All Gently Used Children’s Items Destined for the Dump? and again, over at The Simple Dollar.

Over the past week we have received numerous e-mails about the CPSC’s new regulation regarding children’s items for sale to consumers. We are in no position to discuss the ins and outs of it BUT wanted to offer a word of comfort/precaution: until you see the sign on your consignment shop’s doors or hear that a consignment sale has been canceled OR even see information stating specifically that one can no longer sell untested children’s good…assume business as usual.

Much of this situation is causing a flurry and wildfire of concern. In speaking with a personal contact of ours and consignment sale organizer today I learned there are many, many unanswered questions and possibly even some regulatory safeguards in place for small business owners when it comes to regulations of this sort.

So – Be sure to attend your local consignment sales this Spring and frequent local consignment shops…if their doors are open, it’s okay to buy from them!
