Great Deals on Alice.com

by chrissy on September 30, 2009

in Hot deals

Have you heard of Alice.com? Until a couple of weeks ago, I hadn’t, but I’m glad I know about it now! Alice.com is a website that makes shopping for household items from home easy. At Alice.com you can order everyday household items that you would normally purchase at the store. They have hundreds of items available and many different brands are represented including some eco-friendly brands like Seventh Generation. Here’s the answers to a few questions I had as I began to look into shopping at Alice.com.

How do the prices compare?

As a bargain shopper, I was skeptical that a website would offer the same prices I pay at the grocery store, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only does Alice run sales but they also offer coupons that are automatically deducted from your total. Also, shipping is always free at Alice so you can order as much or as little as you need without factoring in extra charges.

How user-friendly is the site?

Despite the fact that I write this blog, I am not computer-savvy so take my word for it when I tell you that Alice.com is really easy to use.

First you’ll need to create an account, and that takes about two minutes. Then you select the categories of the products you regularly buy. You can add products from any of these categories to your virtual shelf and then drop them into your cart when you are ready to purchase them. As you customize your shelves, you’ll basically be shopping at a store that only carries the products you love and purchase.

As an added bonus, Alice.com also keeps track of your shipments, total coupon savings, items purchased and monthly household expenses.

Alice.com also has a best deals section where they list the top 50 best deals available and the percent savings. I was impressed to find that there are 46 products for 40% off or more and 8 products currently available for 50% off or more! I really appreciate this feature as it makes bargain shopping so much easier. Alternately, you could choose to shop only green products.

How fast do the items ship?

How fast your items arrive at your door depends on where you live and how close you are to a distribution center, but your package should arrive in one to six days.

Free samples and promotions

Starting tomorrow, October 1st, Alice.com is offering free samples including cleanser, moisturizer, shaving cream, floss, coffee and more. Anytime you make a purchase, you could receive a free sample in your box. This promotion will be ongoing.

There’s also another promotion for the month of October only. Alice users who place an order between October 1st and October 31st could discover an extra prize in the box along with a free sample. They have some great prizes available including an iPod shuffle, Flip video camera, free movie rentals or a gas card among other prizes.

If you help promote the giveaway you’ll also be entered to receive a Mac Book. My computer is showing signs of giving up hope on life so I could definitely use that prize! Details will be posted on the Alice community blog tomorrow.

As we’re preparing for the arrival of baby number two, I know that online shopping will come in handy, especially as I’m adjusting to shopping with two little ones. If you’d like to avoid a trip or two to the grocery store, or if you’re looking for a hassle-free deal, I encourage you to check out Alice.com. Oh, and one more bonus, if you sign up using this link, you’ll receive $10 in your account after you spend $50.

As we’re rapidly approaching the due date of baby number two around here, we’ve been hauling out all the baby stuff from storage and buying a few last items we need. As we’ve made more trips to the store than normal, I’ve been thinking a lot about buying stuff and how consumerism works against both green living, staying within budget and living simply, principles that I try to live by.

Generally, I think that less is more. When it comes to preparing for a baby, I’ve realized there are so many items that we just don’t need. By avoiding purchasing them, we save money and although we’re not making a positive different in the environment, at least we’re not having a negative effect either. This principle applies to all purchases. If I don’t need it, buying it works against both my budget and my attempt to living an eco-friendly lifestyle.

I could say a lot more about how “need” is a relative term, but rather than get philosophical, I’d like to point you toward a video that is well worth watching. It’s 20 minutes long, but it is worth every minute. It’s called The Story of Stuff. I hope you enjoy it! I know it will make you think.

(By the way, if you’re looking for more ideas about ways to save money when preparing for a baby, be sure to check out this article.)

Walgreens: $5/$25 Purchase Coupon

by chrissy on September 30, 2009

in Walgreens,printable coupons

I apologize for not telling you about this coupon in time to use it today. Good thing it’s still valid tomorrow.

Go here to print a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase. This coupon is valid tomorrow, September 30, 2009. Your $25 total must be before taxes and after coupons. Check out the best deals at Walgreens this week here. Combined with this coupon, you should be able to score some pretty sweet deals although I have heard from a couple of people that their store is not allowing them to use coupons on Register Rewards deals. Is anyone else having this problem? I hope it’s just a glitch in the system and not a new store policy!

Kmart: Double Coupons September 27-October 3

by chrissy on September 29, 2009

in KMart

Have you heard that Kmart is doubling coupons again this week at some locations? There is some confusion about which coupons will double so it would be a good idea to call your local store to see if they are participating and to check to see if all coupons will double or only Proctor & Gamble coupons.

If your store is only doubling P&G coupons, check out the list of deal match ups put together by STL Mommy.

If your store is doubling all coupons, Common Sense with Money has put together some great deals.

Finally, if you need some inspiration, check out how much Nicole from Nicole’s Nickels was able to buy for just $0.07! If you have a post up with the bargains you’ve snagged at Kmart this week, feel free to leave a link in the comments below.
