How to Save Money on Vacation

Do some research

We always get travel books and do tons of research on the Internet to find out all about our vacation destination. You will have to spend a little money and time but will save a ton by just doing your research. My favorite place to get travel books is on Amazon because I can always find a used book. You can also check PaperBackSwap for used travel books.

Priceline and Expedia are my two favorite places to start looking for deals. Spend some time looking around so you know when you find a good deal!

Rent by owner
Last year we stayed in a million dollar condo that we could ski right up to. We got this for 50% off by booking directly from the owner. I recommend going to Vacation Home Rentals and VRBO.

Rent a timeshare

Renting a timeshare for vacation is another great way to save money. Renting timeshares has helped us save hundreds of dollars on vacation. I recommend going to Red Week.

Use coupons or discount cards

Make sure to order an Entertainment Book for the city you are going to and look for discount cards or certificates like Restaurant.com. A great place to start would be the local tourism department’s website. You can also check to see if your vacation spot has Go Cards. With the Go Card you only have to pay one low price to get FREE admission to the top sights.

Join Rewards programs

Get points or cash back with rewards programs like open table, rewardsnetwork.com or earn CASH back from Upromise’s Dining program. Many hotels have reward programs like Hotels.com and Choice Hotels.
